The products submitted in this portfolio are written and designed with the goal of informing, educating and entertaining Kentucky’s law enforcement community.
“LMPD Shifts SWAT Presence to Visible Role” examines how police at the Kentucky Derby addressed international safety issues and provides lessons learned.
“Everyday Heroes – October 2018” is an entertaining profile featuring a policeman with an illustrious career.
“DOCJT Instructors Build Shoot House for Tactical Training” was written to inform clients about a new training feature uniquely constructed by DOCJT instructors.
Our publication is designed for the Kentucky law enforcement community and stakeholders.
The Kentucky Law Enforcement magazine staff follows analytics from its website to evaluate the success of published articles. The “LMPD Shifts SWAT Presence to Visible Role” article ranked in the top two article hits on the website for two weeks following its publication. Likewise, “Everyday Heroes – October 2018” received the most hits in its first publication week, receiving 1,012 page views in a week where total visitors was 1,359. “DOCJT Instructors Build Shoot House for Tactical Training” received widespread attention, due largely to its distribution on social media, where it also attracted news media attention.
The Kentucky Law Enforcement magazine is the only one of its kind in Kentucky, which reaches out to law enforcement about issues that affect them daily. The magazine is produced by the Communication Branch of the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training, the state’s primary law enforcement training academy. Our small staff of five produces all the content and design for the publication bi-monthly without supplementation from advertising. The print magazine typically runs about 28-pages, and is complemented by KLEmagazine.com, which includes additional content uploaded twice weekly. The magazine represents roughly 25% of duties for which the staff is responsible.
Kelly Foreman has been part of the Kentucky Law Enforcement magazine staff since 2008 and won NAGC writer’s portfolio awards in 2012, 2013 and 2015. Supporting Kentucky’s law enforcement community through news, training information and entertaining features is a career passion for Ms. Foreman.
